Arabic coffee holds a prominent place in Qatari society and has accompanied the people of Qatar in both their daily lives and travels, serving as the central symbol of hospitality. As a result, great attention has been paid to its preparation and presentation. Qatari poets and creatives have also written many poems, riddles, and proverbs centered around coffee.
The preparation of Arabic coffee involves a collection of essential tools, including: “Al-Mahmas” (roasting pan), “Al-Hawan” (grinder), “Al-Dallah” (coffee pot), “Al-Dawa” (coffee vessel), “Al-Bayz” (coffee filter), “Fannajeen” (small coffee cups), and “Al-Leef” (coffee strainer). Each of these tools plays a vital role in ensuring that the coffee is prepared and served to guests in accordance with traditions that should not be overlooked.
