The Council of Ministers of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia approved in its meeting a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the cultural field between the Ministry of Culture in Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Culture in the State of Qatar.
Last June, the Ministry of Culture signed a memorandum of understanding with its Saudi counterpart on activating cultural cooperation between the two countries.
The Qatari Cabinet agreed in its meeting last week to take the necessary measures to ratify the memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the cultural field between the two countries.
The memorandum includes joint work between the two brotherly countries to enhance cooperation in various cultural fields, including those related to heritage, architecture and design, museums, visual arts, theater and performing arts, literature, publishing and translation, fashion, culinary arts, and films, through the establishment of training programs, workshops and seminars between experienced and specialized people, and artists in both brotherly countries, hosting exhibitions, lending works of art and artifacts between them, exchanging participation in festivals and cultural events, and Joint strategic projects in various cultural fields.
According to the memorandum, the two parties will also work to enhance cooperation in the implementation of artistic residency programs between government and private agencies in the two brotherly countries, exchange experiences on projects related to the preservation of heritage of all kinds, facilitate procedures that would enhance cultural activity, in addition to exchanging experiences regarding the implementation of the agreements of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), as well as exchanging official visits between delegations and experts in the two countries.
