In cooperation with the Qatar Photography Center and the Qatar Philatelic & Numismatic Stamp Center affiliated with the Ministry of Culture. The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) witnessed the opening of three different exhibitions, as part of their activities during the holy month of Ramadan, which enriches the cultural scene with new art exhibitions that explore Quranic verses and reflect the value of the holy month.
These exhibitions included, “Recitation of the Qur’an,” organized by (Katara) in cooperation with the Qatar Photography Center of the Ministry of Culture, and the “Mosques of the World in Postcards” exhibition, organized by the Qatar Philatelic & Numismatic Stamp Center of the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with (Katara). In addition to the exhibition “The Spirit of Arabic Calligraphy” by the Iraqi artist Bashar Ali. The opening was witnessed by Mr. Saif Saad Al Dosari, Deputy General Manager of Katara and Director of Human Resources, the “Recitation of the Qur’an” exhibition, and His Excellency Dr. Mustafa Koksu, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the country, and Mr. Abdullah Al-Musleh, Director of the Qatar Photography Center, in addition to those interested and visitors to Katara.
Among the exhibitions that were opened is the “Mosques of the World in Postcards” exhibition. Mr. Hussein Rajab Al-Ismail, Director of Qatar Philatelic & Numismatic Stamp Center, said that the exhibition includes 160 paintings, dealing with postcards documenting the most famous mosques in the State of Qatar, as part of a project by the Center to document mosques in Qatar, the Gulf states, and the Arab and Islamic countries, through postage stamps, inviting the public to visit the exhibition and see what it contains, to learn about these mosques and their ancient history.
He valued the cooperation with (Katara) for holding the exhibition, and said: This cooperation extends to another project that includes the center holding an auction of stamps and coins, before the end of this month, inviting stamp and coin collectors to participate therein.
The exhibition documents, through postage stamps, the Grand Mosque in Mecca, the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina, commemorative stamps for the Hajj seasons, Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock in Holy Jerusalem. It also documents the most famous mosques in the State of Qatar, including the mosques of Al-Sheikh, Al-Qubaib, Omar bin Al-Khattab, Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, may God be pleased with them, the Education City and Katara, in addition to other mosques in the Gulf states and Arab and Islamic countries. As for the “Recitation of the Qur’an” exhibition, it includes a variety of photographs that represent various subjects mentioned in the Holy Qur’an. Aiming to shed light on the greatness of the Creator, through the paintings it presents presenting Qur’anic texts to consolidate the religious link between the Qur’anic verse and the photograph, giving the recipient a unique experience of contemplating God Almighty’s creations in the universe.
As for the exhibition “The Spirit of Arabic Calligraphy” by the Iraqi artist Bashar Ali, it embodies the fruits and plants mentioned in the verses of the Holy Qur’an through the Arabic letter, using different techniques and materials.
