His Excellency Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Thani, the Minister of Culture, received a group of children authors participating in the activities of the Qatari Publishers and Distributors Forum, and praised their creativity, expressing his happiness with the interest of young people in books and authorship.
It is worth mentioning that the Forum of Qatari Publishers and Distributors launched the publications of the young and young participants during the Children’s Book Designer exhibition, which was held in the agricultural tent in Darb Al Saai. The exhibition included various stages for a group of various workshops which started training the participants through writing, drawing and then printing their publications and present them during the exhibition and thus launch their creative product, in partnership with the Children’s Literature Center, Qatar Reads, and Nabja Publishing House.
Mr. Riyad Ahmed Yassin, the Director of the Qatari Publishers and Distributors Forum, said that: The role of the forum in this program aimed to support and promote the book industry by training these young and old participants from their reception until printing and issuing their intellectual product.
He added by saying that the selection of participants was part of the forum’s plan to support talents who love reading and writing, whether young or youths and these participants were highlighted and directed towards writing stories and then inspired their content from the slogan of the National Day, “Our unity is the source of our strength” to enhance identity and instill values.
Yassin emphasized on the role of the forum in printing these publications and presenting them during the children’s book designer exhibition, as we believe in developing these talents and supporting them towards a promising future.
Mrs. Asmaa Al-Kuwari, the Director of the Children’s Literature Center, said that: “Today, we are about to reach the second phase of the book designer program, which is concerned with launching their publications and presenting them to the exhibition audience, who expressed great admiration for these interesting publications inspired by the slogan of our National Day, “Our unity is the source of our strength.”
Al-Kuwari added that the program of the exhibition went through several stages, starting with the writing and drawing workshop, then the revision workshop, then the translation workshop, and then, the publication stage.
She emphasized that behind the scenes of our program for those workshops it took nearly a full month of work, training and revision to reach the stage of presenting the publications to the public during the exhibition.
She stressed that the program had combined efforts, whether from the participants or the organizers, and extended praise and thanks to the Ministry of Culture represented by the Qatari Publishers and Distributors Forum for its support of the program, in which it saw a place Fertile to celebrate these talents within the Forum’s programs that support the publishing movement and introduce the book.
