Author Maha Humayd, Al-Jasrah Cultural Club Coordinator, expressed her pleasure to be present at the 31st Doha International Book Fair, whose 2022 theme is “Knowledge is Light.” She explained that the club is holding 34 sessions at the fair, including cultural discussions and seminars featuring some of the most prominent authors and intellectuals in Qatar. These sessions include 20 book signing events.

She added that “This year’s book fair is quite different from previous ones because of the pandemic and the rise in infection rates. Nevertheless, the book fair is meticulously organized and visitors are closely observing social distancing and other precautionary measures. Organizing a cultural event at this scale is a laudable achievement.”

She expressed her gratitude for the support of the Ministry of Culture, which dedicated a booth for Al-Jasrah Cultural Club, the oldest cultural club in Qatar founded in 1960. To Humayd, it is an honor to see this name at such an international event.

Humayd noted that the session started with a brief history of Al-Jasrah Cultural Club, which is hosting daily sessions at the book fair with prominent authors and intellectuals. These sessions are part of the wide range of book fair activities and events aimed to benefit children and adult alike.
