Qatar Chess Association has honored distinguished male and female students participating in the procedural plan program developed for the implementation of the game of chess in model public primary schools for 2018-2019. The ceremony was held at the Ministry of Culture and Sports. School administrator and teachers participating in the program were also honored.

Mohammed Al-Madhahka, President Of The Qatar Chess Association; Abdullah Al-Obaidli, consultant of the Programs and Activities Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education; Eisa Abdulla Al Harami, Director of the Sports Affairs Department at the Ministry of Culture and Sports; Hamad Al-Tamimi, Executive Director of the Qatar Chess Association; Omar Al-Marri, member of the Association, along with Salman Salman, technical expert at the Association were all present at the event.

The ceremony began with a video presentation, demonstrating all events, activities and competitions that were carried out by the schools chosen to implement the chess program. Then Mr. Mohammed Al-Madhahka addressed the attendees. He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Ministry of Culture and Sports, as well as school administrators, teachers and students participating in the program for their effective participation and support in working to realize the objectives of the operational program, which aims at introducing the game of chess to public schools, and for their remarkable and tireless efforts, aiming at achieving objectives of the program related to the development of mental capabilities as well as use of chess as an educational tool that assists in increasing students’ thinking abilities and sports skills at the same time, which enables primary students to understand calculations and promotes their intelligence levels at an early stage.

Afterwards, certificates were presented to the administrations of the participating schools and prizes were given to teachers as well as male and female students.
