The Theater Affairs Center at the Ministry of Culture is preparing to launch a new workshop about the fundamentals of acting, which will be presented by theater director Rawan Helwi starting next Sunday. It will be held at the Qatar National Theater for a period of one month, on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 5 PM to 7 PM. The workshop, intended only for college and university students, is part of a series of art workshops that the Center had previously announced would offer during the coming period in various fields of theater, such as writing and acting.

On the other hand, the Center is preparing for a distinguished theatrical season to compensate for the 2020 and 2021 seasons impacted by the Corona pandemic. The new season features eight theatrical works received by the Center from local groups and artistic companies, including plays for adults and children, in addition to a new edition of the University Theater Festival. In anticipation of the Festival, the Center holds several training workshops for university students to develop their creative abilities. The poet Abdel Hamid Al-Youssef is expected to conduct a workshop on the art of elocution, as well as other workshops on the making of an actor and on other theatrical elements, which had started off earlier with a workshop by playwright and theater director Hamad Al-Rumaihi on theatrical writing. The workshop is expected to continue until the start of the theater season. On the other hand, the Center has been digitizing the Qatari theater archive from 1970 to now with the aim of serving Qatari and international researchers interested in the theater in Qatar, which will make theatrical texts available for reading. 50% of the archive has thus been completed and the works of local theater groups documented. The Center is currently working on the Qatar Theater platform and application project to be available on devices and smartphones so that the reader can browse the history of Qatari theater, watch old plays that have been digitized and book tickets to attend new plays. There is also another project called “Broadcast” for Qatari symbols in the field of theater.
