Qatar Poetry Center “Diwan Al-Arab” concluded its poetry evenings in Darb Al Saai, which came as part of the activities of the National Day of the State 2022, where a poetry evening was held on the main stage, which was performed by the poets: Saad bin Marei Al-Hajri, Hamad bin Saleh, and Butti Al-Hababi, and it was moderated by Atta. Mohammed.
The poems that poets read were dominated by the patriotic side. Besides, the poets did not neglect to read some of the various other poems, especially those that dealt with social aspects.
The poems recited by the poets touched the artistic taste of the pioneers of Darb Al Saai, who were keen to attend and interact with them.
For his part, the poet Saad bin Marei Al-Hajri expressed his happiness at participating in this evening, especially as it comes within the activities of the National Day of the State 2022. He says that: From this point, the national occasion imposed itself on the evening, in addition to its coincidence with the State of Qatar hosting the World Cup FIFA – Qatar 2022.
He continued by saying that: I have read a number of patriotic poems, with all their verses to welcome the guests of Doha during the World Cup period, in addition to reciting other multi-purpose poems.
Regarding the importance of poetry, and its handling of such issues, he stressed that poetry is the poet’s message to his society, and through it he sends many messages of love for the homeland and calls for its advancement and keenness on its development, and also carries other societal messages urging morals to advance societies morally, intellectually and humanly.
For his part, the poet Hamad bin Saleh congratulated the wise leadership, and everyone who lives in this good land, after the great achievement represented by the State of Qatar hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, as well as the celebrations of the National Day, and may Qatar be every year from one progress to another.”
He described the participation in the activities of the National Day of the State 2022 in Darb Al Saai, as participation in “an exceptional national event, and this is a very important matter. Thus, we, as poets, our role lies in highlighting our identity, heritage, customs and traditions in letters, weights and rhymes.”
He expressed his happiness to be a participant in the latest poetry evenings of the Qatar Poetry Center “Diwan Al-Arab”, affiliated to the Ministry of Culture, which was witnessed by Darb Al Saai, expressing how happy he was to participate in the poetry evening, which came in light of a national atmosphere, witnessed by the country on the occasion of the National Day, as well as It coincided with Qatar’s organization of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and the great success achieved by this hosting.
He said: I am proud of my country, the leader of the country, and the people of Qatar in general for their positions and their cohesion behind their wise leadership, and from here comes my participation in this evening, based on the role of the poet and his active participation, as poetry often affects the recipient, especially that we Arabs carry a culture Poetry, and we are greatly influenced by poetry.
He continued by saying that: Poetry has a national and societal duty, for the poems of poets to be a motivator for the public, by rallying around the country, and the participation of the wise leadership in everything that is in the interest of the country, in addition to strengthening national cohesion.
He confirmed that he had read a number of patriotic poems, including the poem “Tamim Al-Majd”, as well as the poem “Ammar, O Greatest Homeland”, in addition to reading a number of other poems that dealt with social aspects.
As for the journalist Atta Mohammad, he said that: The evening dealt with the poet’s patriotic poems index, and is the poet’s writing of patriotic poems an indication of his affiliation? Is the poet’s patriotism measured by the number of poems he writes? What is the extent of the impact of the repetition of writing for the homeland on other topics that poets address?
He added by saying that: The attendees discussed the poet’s environment and its impact on his writings, and how the poet preserves and respects his environment with the customs, traditions and dialect it contains through his poems, especially if his environment was originally poetic.
