Today, competitions of the international online chess tournament “We are one Family” will be held at 5 p.m., on the occasion of the International Chess Day. The tournament will be organized by Qatar Chess Federation, driven by the belief in chess as a positive power that connects people, and raise both awareness and learning. The tournament will be held in an 18-games round robin system.
Qatar chess Federation has defined the playing system through Lichess application on smart phones devices of smartphones or iPads devices, players scored points will be calculated in the classic way, so that a player gets one point for a win, half a point for a draw and nothing for a loss.
For his part, Mohammed Al-Modiahki, head of Qatar chess Federation, expressed his happiness in organizing this tournament that coincides with the World Chess Day, considering that competitions will allow all players to engage in an exciting confrontation, especially as the international championships organized by the Federation recently were well received by the international chess family and the International Chess Federation had praised the Qatari initiatives.
Financial prizes, Al-Modiahki noted, reached 2850 dollars and the first-rank winner will get 500 US dollars.
On the other hand, the tournament manager Hussein Aziz confirmed that Qatar Chess Federation applies several measures to guarantee fair play for all participants. Further, the Federation reserves the right to ban any player from participating in any future tournament organized by the Federation if proven cheating or using any external aid during the tournament.
Anyone to be caught using external assistance during the marathon is closed by Lichess’s administration and is denied any prize if he achieved an advanced rank and the award goes to the next rank to ensure fairness in the game.
Aziz announced a competition related to chess rules that the Federation will hold via its Instagram, and winners will be announced at the end of the day.
