H.E. Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, announced his candidacy for President of the General Assembly of Umm Salal Sports Club, in the elections to be held on August 12, and Sheikh Tamim Bin Muhammad ran for Vice-President. Last week, Sheikh Hamad Bin Nasser Al Thani, the current president of Umm Salal Sports Club has declared that he will not run for the club’s presidency elections for the electoral cycle 2020-2024. He called upon everyone to stand by the first football team at the moment, and support the team in its path to move away from the danger of falling to the Second Division.
Although he did not run for the next elections, H.E. Sheikh Hamad Bin Nasser pointed out that, he will not leave the club, but will continue to offer his support and assistance, and will keep watching and following the team.
On their part, Sheikh Hamad Bin Nasser Al Thani, the current President of Umm Salal Club, and Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, the candidate for Umm Salal’s presidency, attended the team’s training on the university’s playgrounds yesterday. Through these trainings, the team prepares to resume the league under the applied precautionary measures and the preventive precautions. Sheikh Tamim Bin Mohammad Al Thani, the club vice-president, head of the Football section and candidate for vice-president in the next session, also attended the training.
Sheikh Hamad Bin Nasser thanked the players and the coaching staff for their efforts during the last period, confirming that he stood by the team until the last match in the league and will continue to do the same in the coming period. Meanwhile, Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Abdul Rahman called upon the players to make all efforts to overcome this difficult stage, as the team still has 5 decisive matches. The presence of the current president and the candidate president deeply impressed all the players’ souls, as they promised to do their best in the coming stage to keep the team in the Stars League.
