Today, the first meeting was held at the level of the heads of the Culture, Tourism and Entertainment Committee of the Qatari-Saudi Coordination Council.
A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the Ministries of Culture in the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The memorandum was signed by His Excellency Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Thani, the Minister of Culture, and His Highness Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, Saudi Minister of Culture.
Dr. Ghanem bin Mubarak Al-Ali, the Assistant Undersecretary for Cultural Affairs at the Ministry of Culture, said after the meeting that the memorandum dealt with activating cultural cooperation between the two countries, exchanging experiences and coordinating the preparation of joint cultural files for registration on the list of intangible cultural heritage of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
He added that cooperation is continuing between the ministries of culture in the two countries, where coordination and cooperation took place in preparing joint Arab files for registration on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List, such as files on falconry, Arabic coffee, councils, and others, indicating that the Ministry of Culture is currently preparing a number of new files in this regard, which will be coordinated and cooperate to complete its registration on the World Heritage List, the most prominent of which is the Bisht.
He explained that cultural cooperation also includes the joint cultural presence in the two countries, especially national events and book fairs, where the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be the guest of honor of the new session of the Doha International Book Fair.
