Dr. Mohammad bin Noemi Al-Hajri, the Advisor to His Excellency the Minister of Culture, made this Sunday evening a media tour of the Doha International Book Fair at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, where journalists and social media influencers were briefed on the exhibition’s readiness to host the thirty-second session, held under the slogan “By Reading.” We Rise” during the period from 12 to 21 June 2023.
In this regard, Dr. Ghanem bin Mubarak Al-Ali Al-Maadeed, the Assistant Undersecretary for Cultural Affairs at the Ministry of Culture, said that this year’s edition of the Doha International Book Fair is considered the largest with the participation of 505 local, Arab and international bodies, about 180 thousand titles and 750 thousand books, stressing that the exhibition occupies a position It is among the most prestigious book fairs in the region, as the wide participation of publishing houses in its activities embodies the vision of the Ministry of Culture to promote the integration of cultures, and to strengthen the bonds of cooperation between intellectuals, creators, and writers at various levels, in a way that benefits the cultural scene and the efforts to localize writers and books.
He added by saying that: “The Doha International Book Fair has always represented a lively interactive gathering that brings together people of the word, art and culture with the public, and a distinguished forum for elements of the book and publishing industry to exchange experiences and strengthen partnerships, in addition to its primary role in strengthening and enriching the relationship of family members with writers, as this version is characterized by various events and activities dedicated to it.” For adults and children, which vary between education, education, art and entertainment, and provide the appropriate environment to support the talented and creative people.
For his part, Dr. Mohammad bin Noemi Al-Hajri, the Advisor to His Excellency the Minister of Culture, confirmed during the tour that the Doha International Book Fair has become a very important local and international cultural event to support the movement of creativity, authorship and publishing at the level of the State of Qatar and the Arab world, in addition to being a global platform and a cultural interface for the State of Qatar.
He added that the Doha International Book Fair, in its 32nd session, aims to consolidate the status of culture in Qatar and confirm the pivotal role of knowledge in the renaissance of society.
He also appreciated the efforts of the work team and event organizers in completing the work and equipment for the exhibition, in line with the importance of the international cultural event and the aspirations of the ministry, intellectuals and book lovers.
This year, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be the guest of honor for this edition of the exhibition, and it will participate in a special pavilion that includes a group of various books.
The exhibition is witnessing the participation of 37 countries, while the number of publishers reaches 505 direct publishers. The main stage of the Doha International Book Fair will host 37 cultural, scientific, literary and social seminars, in addition to poetry evenings, while Al-Mutanabbi Street will host 6 libraries from Baghdad, and it will be held in the cooking event. Neighborhood: 28 shows with the participation of 14 chefs.
On the sidelines of the current version, 48 workshops will be held. The exhibition will also include a number of events in the Children’s Oasis, including art workshops, activity spaces and a puppet theatre, and the number of performances and shows is amounting to 87.
The number of activities of the Cultural Salon is 116, while the central area witnesses the establishment of some works of art such as playing the Oud, the violin, plastic art and photography.
This year, the Doha International Book Fair is offering many public services to the public, including: A reading guide service, Ask me service, in addition to a mobile application to search for books, public service (The carriers), along with a free parking for the public.
