The main theater in Darb Al Saai witnessed the holding of a new symposium entitled “Rhythm in Loving the Nation”, which came as part of the activities of the National Day 2022.
The journalist and poet Abdel Salam Jadallah, and the artist Nasser Sahim participated in the symposium, and it was presented by the journalist Tayseer Abdullah, who started the symposium with an introduction to the national song, its most prominent poets, singers, composers, and its most prominent contexts. Pointing out that the Qatari song has gone through three stages, and that the current, last stage, during which the Qatari song witnessed diversity and prosperity.
The journalist, Tayseer Abdullah, confirmed that the Qatari national song preserved the highness of the meanings, as it sang the love of the homeland and its symbols, and that it is still the daughter of the government institution.
The symposium dealt with the most prominent Qatari voices that contributed to the development of the national song, its most important stages, especially the most influential, in addition to distinguishing between the Qatari national song and its counterparts in other countries, and whether the future will put features of the specificity of the Qatari song, or dissolve in musical styles far from the Qatari heritage.
For his part, Mr. Abd al-Salam Jadallah touched on the most important characteristics of the patriotic song, its most important poets, and whichever remains, is it sung in classical or colloquial, as well as the strongest influence on it, is it the poet or the composer. He reviewed his relationship with the late artist Hassan Ali at the Institute of Music, he said that this institute had a room that included a “piano” and “oud.” The late artist was a fan of the late Riyad al-Sunbati and the classical song, as he, may God have mercy on him, was one of the distinguished musicians. As he was, may God have mercy on him, creative in the field of song.
The journalist and poet Abd al-Salam Jadallah described the Qatari song as carrying simplicity in its style, and therefore it reaches the recipient very easily, so it remains in his memory, and therefore the works of the late musician Abdul Aziz Nasser are still immortal to this day.
He stopped at the difference between the song in classical language, and the other in the colloquial dialect. Saying: There are symbols of poets who presented the patriotic song.
About the division of the song, he said that: The whole country is an emotion, and therefore, when the song is emotional, it can be patriotic by affirming the love of the country, and therefore the separation between the patriotic song and the emotional one is very difficult, and therefore there is an identification between the sections of the song, and it is difficult to separate between them.
Jadallah talked about the future of the current song, stressing that there are singers with a high level of competence, and that there are current songs that are truly promising for future songs, and that their echoes did not stop at the local, but rather went beyond the global.
In this context, he cited the song “Shumi Leh”, which he described as a song that achieved very good echoes, and hence transcended its geographical borders outside the homeland, to the extent that there are recipients from countries of the world asking to hear and repeat it. He also cited the songs of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. He described them as futuristic and modern songs at the same time.
The journalist and poet Abdul Salam Jadallah said that: This means that we are facing international Qatari songs, and that there are promising Qatari creators. He called for the need for the Qatari song, as it charts its future, to take into account openness to the other, after the world has become a small village, and for the Qatari song to compete with its counterparts, and to support it with a music institute, to graduate the “choir”, and to bring music to the educational sector, to teach students the basics of music.
In turn, the artist, Nasser Sahim, said that the lyrics of the patriotic song sing of the homeland, that it carries simplicity in its meaning, and its easy access to the recipient, and that although the music of the late musician Abdul Aziz Nasser is deep and complex, due to his studies in Cairo, and his saturation with musical shrines, all of this contributed In transferring the Qatari folk song to a new color, which is embodied in the song “God Ya Amri Qatar”, which is sung by everyone today, and engraved in their memory.
The Artist Nasser Sahim added that the Qatari song bears three aspects, patriotic, emotional, and fast-paced, pointing out to the contributions of the late artist Faraj Abdul Karim, and his clear imprints on the Qatari song, as well as the late musician Abdul Aziz Nasser, and others who had imprints on the Qatari song.
He stopped by the features of the country song, stressing that it is characterized by a generation of artists and composers who studied in Cairo, and adopted an Egyptian character, and added a Qatari imprint to it, “and therefore the Qatari song was distinguished by the aesthetics of composition, lyrics and performance.”, and pointed out the importance of the Qatari song preserving the Qatari identity, as well as the values and originality of society, and for it to carry a meaningful message, by emphasizing pride in the country, in the various elements of the lyrical work.
During the symposium, the artist Nasser Sahim sang a bunch of patriotic songs, accompanied by the Darb Al Saai band, which is directed by the composer Mohammad Al-Banna. The audience of the main stage in Darb Al Saai accompanied these songs, which reflected a patriotic atmosphere, which everyone touched, evoking the legacy of patriotic songs, which is still entrenched in the collective memory.
