The pavilion of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change in Darb Al Saai is witnessing a high turnout by visitors who participate in the various activities organized by the pavilion, such as awareness-raising competitions and seminars … etc., as it offers educational activities such as daily competitions for young people about environmental protection and recycling. The Ministry’s participation in Darb Al Saai comes under “Alrawdat” activity, where the Ministry’s pavilion includes “4” wild radwdat sections that contain wild trees and plants. Meanwhile, the other sections contain “Arabian oryx, reem gazelles, ostriches, houbara bustards, rabbits and wild reptiles,” and it was named The sections have been given names of Qatari areas, namely: Al-Sulaimi Farm area, Al-Reem protected area, Al-Areek area, and Rawdat Al-Maida area. Also, screens have been allocated on which films about the Ministry’s efforts to preserve the Qatari environment and develop wildlife are allocated. The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change is participating this year, for the first time, in cooperation with the Science Club, in distinguished activities in Darb Al Saai, with an initiative to reuse plastic materials by providing an electric scooter that collects plastic bottles from the public to use them for recycling, in addition to organizing recycling competitions and the culture of innovation, which are competitions that are held daily and contain a set of questions about the Qatari environment and the use of technology culture in environmental development, with the aim of enhancing scientific research skills and learning about the Qatari environment and its contents, in addition to organizing interactive scientific experiments using natural materials, and a workshop on SDGs, and an anthropomorphic robot as a plastic collection container.
Mr. Saad Al-Kaabi, the Head of Land Rehabilitation Unit at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, said: “What distinguishes the participation in the Darb Al Saai celebrations for this year is that it coincides with the State of Qatar’s hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.” He added by saying that we seek through this event to introduce the public to the role of the Ministry, and its efforts in organizing a sustainable environmental World Cup through environmentally friendly sports facilities.
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry hosts, through “In Our Hospitality” segment, environmental activists and those concerned in the field of preserving the environment and the owners of environmental initiatives and projects to talk about their role in the field of preserving the environment.
