The “Liwan Art” event, which is being held as part of the National Day celebrations in Darb Al Saai yesterday, hosted a group of artists who own works displayed in the Department of Various Arts. His Excellency Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Thani, the Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for National Day celebrations, toured the exhibition, where His Excellency and listened to a detailed explanation from the artists about the content of paintings, ceramic artifacts, Arabic calligraphy and Islamic decoration.
The artist, Hamid Abdullah Al-Qahtani, expressed his happiness to participate with his works in this edition of the National Day celebrations, and said in press statements that participation is to hold workshops to teach the art of forming ceramics, in addition to the previous artworks displayed in the Department of Various Arts, which symbolize Qatari and Islamic culture. Presenting 4 workshops during the National Day celebrations in Darb Al-Saai, explaining that registration to attend is available on the website of the Ministry of Culture, Department of Visual Arts, for those wishing to attend, and indicated that the turnout for the workshops exceeded all expectations, as many citizens and residents registered to attend the workshops. Regarding the formation of ceramics, and this indicates the wide interest in this aspect of art, which is an Arab and Islamic heritage, since ceramics was a daily use tool in every home, and then this field expanded until it included the manufacture of antiques and artistic paintings that symbolize the cultures and identities of peoples, and between Al-Qahtani said that participation in the formation of ceramics on the rotating wheel is available to everyone, on a daily basis, from three in the afternoon until the end of the day, as routine workshops are held for visitors to Darb Al-Saai, and Participation by registering the name with the organizers and then joining the workshop, where the visitor has the opportunity to form ceramics under the supervision of the artists participating in the Ceramic Art Department.
At the end of his speech, the artist Al-Qahtani called on all visitors to visit the Liwan Art event to learn about the types of arts and experience the art of forming ceramics, which turned from an industry into an art that attracts the attention of a large group of people.
It is worth noting that Liwan Art event includes many sections, including stamps and coins, an exhibition of various arts, and a workshop section. Its program during the National Day celebrations in Darb Al Saai includes many workshops such as simulating nature by typography, and a workshop on contemporary artistic heritage in an abstract style inspired by the plants of the Qatari environment, and a workshop for learning to draw characters in a cartoon way, and a workshop for drawing abstract decorative units on the camel’s body in colors, and a workshop for paintings inspired by the interior of the Qatari house with “gelatin” printing, in addition to a workshop on harmonizing Arabic letters with colors to form an artistic painting, and a workshop to learn about making mugs with the electric wheel and how to color them, and a workshop on contemporary artistic heritage in an abstract style using the “collage” method, along with a workshop for a painting that embodies women from the past and the decorative units of traditional clothes using the mono print method.
