The Ministry of Culture and a number of Qatari publishing houses, including Dar Al Watad, Hamad Bin Khalifa University House, and Qatar University House, are participating in the activities of the Sharjah International Book Fair, which is organized by the Sharjah Book Authority during the period from November 2nd to 13th at the Expo Center Sharjah. The Ministry is keen to participate in international book fairs, which are an opportunity to present Qatari intellectual production to a wide audience of readers around the world, to learn about the continuous development in the publishing industry, as well as to build relationships with workers in the field of culture and the publishing industry. The Ministry is also keen, through the Qatari Publishers and Distributors Forum, to attend the Publishers Conference, which will be held on the sidelines of the exhibition, in which those interested in practicing translation and copyright rights in the Arab and international publishing market will gather. The exhibition’s agenda includes holding many cultural and artistic activities and events, in addition to presenting many prizes in the fields of publishing and creativity. The Sharjah International Book Fair has been held annually in the city of Sharjah since 1982 at the Expo Center Sharjah, under the supervision of the Sharjah Book Authority, as it is a platform for displaying new publications for a large number of publishers from different countries of the world.
