In cooperation with Qatari Forum for Authors, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Ihsan Center and the Reading Assistant Initiative, Qatari Publishers and Distributors Forum organized yesterday the “Reading for All” event at the headquarters of Ihsan Center.
The event program included a reading assistant course, which targeted novices in reading or those with no background experience in reading, across the age spectrum, who were guided through a consultation session with the reading assistant. Through this session, which did not exceed 10 minutes, the reading assistant used a questionnaire to learn about the beneficiary’s background.
During the session titled “Presenting a Writer,” which was moderated by Saleh Ghareeb, Dr. Ali Shaddad Al-Qahtani thanked the organizers of this event for their interest in the intellectual and cultural aspects that would serve to educate the community.
Dr. Al-Qahtani added: “Reading nourishes the soul, and it is the best way for a person to become more informed and knowledgeable, and its importance is not associated with a specific age, but rather a person must persevere in it regardless of his age.
Professor Fayza Muhammad Al-Nuaimi, on the other hand, said: “Reading is one of the most important things that preserve the mind, as it is the sport of the mind that maintains its health and strength. Reading is an important mental sport.”
