HE Minister of Culture Sheik Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Thani met with a number of Iranian intellectuals during his visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran. Speaking on Twitter yesterday, His Excellency wrote, during my visit to the city of Isfahan, I was happy to meet with a number of Iranian intellectuals and to exchange views with them on the role of culture in building and strengthening relations between peoples. In the meantime, the 33rd edition of the Tehran International Book Fair concluded with the participation of the State of Qatar, which was the guest of honor at the fair this year. The fair had effective participation by Qatar, where a number of Qatari publishing houses participated, namely “Dar Al-Widd, Dar Nebja, Dar Rosa, Dar Al-Taqr University Publishing, Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press”. These publishing houses displayed a number of various books that contribute to enrich the knowledge of readers and meet the aspirations of intellectuals in terms of the new editions of the houses participating in various knowledge sciences, such as novels, law, social sciences and humanities, and distinctive versions of children’s books and young people and others. The participation of Qatar University publishing house came in coordination with the Ministry of Culture with about 27 titles from its scientific and academic publications, including the book “Al-Zubara, the World Heritage City”, which was published by the House in cooperation with Qatar’s museums and witnessed a great demand from researchers and those interested in the history and heritage of the region at the Doha International Book Fair 2022. Among the most prominent titles is the book “Women’s Statues in the Poetry of Sheik Ali bin Saud bin Thani Bin Qassim Al-Thani” by Dr. Mariam Al-Nuaimi, a professor of literary criticism at Qatar University, which is considered a rich reference for observers and followers of the Gulf and Arab contemporary poetry movement. The House of Hamad Bin Khalifa University participated in the fair through the Ministry of Culture. This is the first participation for the House in Tehran. The House participated with about 50 of its publications in various types of knowledge, ranging from children’s books to novels, references, academic books and others. Participating books were selected from among the latest publications and authors known throughout the region and the world, and received awards. Rosa Publishing House’s participation in the Tehran Fair was the first of its kind, as the house displayed a collection of the publications of Qatari authors in various topics. The house’s participation in the fair was to introduce and market Qatari books and authors to readers and intellectuals from outside the State of Qatar, and to obtain external partnerships in the field of translation to and from those countries, or to translate the works of the house into other languages in the country where it participates in book fairs.
