The activities of the Doha Fellowship Program for Publishers organized by the Ministry of Culture and represented by the Forum of Qatari Publishers and Distributors, in cooperation with Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press, has been concluded. The activities came to an end after more than 100 meetings between 59 Qatari, Arab and foreign publishing houses that continued virtually for three consecutive days, due to the precautionary measures of COVID-19.
Participants expressed optimism about the expected outcomes of the meetings of the program’s events. Discussions will continue between publishing houses, which have agreed in principle to cooperate and form partnerships, until these partnerships are confirmed in the coming months.
Five Qatari publishing houses were registered in the Doha Fellowship for Publishers program. They are Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press, Qatar University Press, Dar Al-Twad, Dar Nabja and Dar Zakrit.
This program represents an opportunity for Qatari houses to gain experience and establish partnerships to buy and sell publishing and translation rights, and other possible means of cooperation with foreign publishing houses, hopping that future courses will witness the attendance of new publishing houses locally, Arab and international.
