The Ministry of Culture, represented by the Theater Affairs Center and the Visual Arts Center, participated in several activities and performances during the opening of the “D’reesha” Performing Arts Festival. The participation included shows dedicated to families prepared and performed by puppeteers. The participation of the Theater Affairs Center is part of the efforts to support theater, attract youth audiences and shed light on creativity in Qatar. In the visual arts part, artist Khaled Al-Mussawi will participate in Arabic calligraphy and in an interactive workshop with the audience. Other contributing artists include Mona Al-Badr, who will participate in the free drawing event before the audience, Naima Al-Hail, who will participate in the Islamic motifs and free drawing event before the audience, and Ahmed Al-Ali, who will participate in the portrait drawing and free drawing event before the audience. Artists Saeeda Habib, Nouf Al-Muraikhi, Salha Al-Subaie, Omran Al-Raisi, Ahmed Al-Hussaini and Nasser Al-Marri will participate in a free drawing event before the audience.

In its first edition, the Festival aims to be a stepping stone in the effort to highlight creativity in the State Qatar and inspire artists at all stages of their development, as well as celebrating heritage, identifying latent talents and planting the seeds of creativity for the years to come. The Festival also aims to inspire and encourage young people to explore the world of arts in a model that celebrates the thriving culture of performing arts in Qatar Foundation schools.
