The Qatari Forum for Authors held a panel discussion entitled “Continuing Giving” as part of its “Over Sixty” initiative, which is presented in cooperation with the Center for Empowerment and Care of the Elderly “Ihsan” and is moderated by writer Saleh Gharib, program manager at the forum. The new episode was hosted by the writer and researcher Dr. Shuaa Al-Yousef, and Professor Salem Al-Anzi, head of the psychological unit at the center, and it was broadcast live on the forum’s Instagram account and YouTube channel.

In the beginning, Professor Al-Anzi defined the Centre, its vision, objectives, and strategy. He explained that one of the most important programs offered by the Centre was “communication”, which sought to teach the elder to use modern equipment and e-learning. More than 240 older persons benefited from the service, in addition to the Centre’s trips to new sites so that the elderly are in constant contact with his community.

Dr. Shuaa spoke about her book Retirement. Starting a New Life, “which contains guidance that serves a pensioner, an elder and a patient, reveals the social problems resulting from retirement, and sets out a set of points and rules for a pensioner’s access to happiness, the most important of which is the continuation of education.

For his part, Mr. Khalid Abdallah, Acting Executive Director of the Ehsan Centre, said: The Centre was keen to cover all aspects of older persons and stressed that the Centre’s involvement in organizing such an event was a form of cooperation with specialized agencies.
