The theatre Affairs Center will participate in Qatar Foundation’s “Drisha” Performing Arts Festival in the Education City from 12 to 17 December. In its first edition, the festival aims to be a starting point to highlight Qatar’s burgeoning creative community and inspire artists at all stages of their development, as well as celebrate Heritage, identify potential talent and sow the seeds of creativity for years to come. It also aims to inspire and encourage young people to explore the art world in a model that celebrates the thriving performing arts culture in Qatar Foundation Schools exemplified by the theatrical show “Showtime”.

Abdul Rahim Al-Siddiqi, Director of the Center for Theater Affairs, said: The center’s participation comes with the support of the Ministry of Culture in the framework of its support for cultural centers, and the participation will include presenting shows dedicated to families prepared and presented by puppet artists who specialize in such performances. He added: The center is participating in the play “The Cake Seller”.

He noted that the participation of the Centre for Theatre Affairs was part of efforts to support theatre, attract children’s audiences and highlight creativity in Qatar. This groundbreaking festival brings together many disciplines and Fields (research, education, technology and science) to explore the nature of the Performing Arts, working with the new generation of innovative artists throughout the year, where many events and experiential performance activities will be held with the aim of enhancing student participation and empowerment, then the annual festival comes to culminate these activities and turn Education City into an open theater for creative work.
