Al Jesra Cultural and Social Club completed its sixtieth year in the service of Qatari, Arab and human culture with a new achievement and a qualitative addition to the awareness and knowledge within issuing “Al Jesra Arts” quarterly magazine. The cover of this issue included titles of plastic arts, cinema, theater and music and it constitutes an observatory for these arts, their symbols (figures) and worlds in Qatar, the Arab world and the world.
In his speech “The First Look” entitled “Arts of Al Jesra, Why?, Mr. Ibrahim Khalil Al-Jaidah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Jesra Cultural and Social Club said, “Out of our faith in the importance of arts in upgrading the human being, expanding his perceptions and adding to the heritage of his ancestors, the club decided to publish its new magazine to include the different arts between its two covers taking into consideration that it becomes a window from which the Arab artist appears to his audience and we look through it on the innovation and creativity that the world is going through.”
The survey of Dr. Ali Afifi Ali Ghazi entitled “Museums in Qatar, How did the Qatari Society cope with development and modernity?”, shed a broad light on the global dimensions of the Qatari experience in building museums which have turned into major cultural service institutions that aims at spreading awareness of heritage.
Under the title “Pablo Picasso….What did he add to the human memory?, Issa Bayoumi reviewed features from Picasso’s biography as well as his social and creative biography demonstrating key moments in his private and public scenes.
Issam Zakaria wrote about spectrum colors at 93rd Oscar Awards Ceremony and said, “Chinese, Koreans and Africans are changing the face of Hollywood.” He said also that Oscar 2021 is a crossroad and a sign of the amazing changes taking place in the third decade of the twentieth century.
As about Dr. Hassan Rashid, he interviewed the Qatari artist Fahd Al Kubaisi and discussed with him his experience in mastering singing and music, his style and approach of singing, his most important works and artistic influences in his singing personality and his founding to “Mazaj” radio station and his participation abroad and in Arab and International festivals in addition to evidences of his experience with the poet Mohammad Ali Al-Marzouqi, the poet and composer Fahd Al-Mursal and the writer and poet Khaled Al-Obaidan.
Fadwa Al-Bashiri Al-Soprano interviewed the Moroccan Samira Al-Qadri about her experience in drawing inspiration from Andalusian music as the mother tongue for all musical forms in the Mediterranean area and about her experience and visions in musical creativity. In the melody memory (Zakerat Al Nagham), Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim wrote about Mounir Murad, the clacket worker who rose to the throne of Arab performance song.
The issue included an observatory for the position and state of art scene in Doha and is entitled “The Heart of Doha Beats with Youth Creativity”. It reviewed the experiences of young artists in the “Outbreak” exhibition in Msheireb Downtown Doha, in which 24 plastic artists inspired Corona “Covid-19” pandemic and the psychological and economic disasters that resulted in it. Also, the exhibition reviewed the experience of “Iwan Al-Qssar”, a new arena for creativity and cultural dialogue in Doha.
