The Theatre Affairs Centre of the Ministry of Culture and Sports is filming a number of episodes of its new program, “Make Your Puppet at Home.” In this program, children and the family will learn how to make puppets from simple materials available at home. The program began broadcasting its first episode yesterday on the Doha 360 platform in addition to the Centre’s website on the Internet. The program’s episodes will be broadcast on Tuesday every week at exactly twelve o’clock in the afternoon, with a total of 12 episodes, during which the program will communicate with the audience and receive short videos that include examples of what they made. In return, children will receive a friend’s card to the “Puppet space” that qualifies them to attend the “Puppet space” for free. There are many other gifts as well.
In his turn, artist Salah Al-Mulla, director of the Theatre Affairs Centre, explained that the Centre is keen to protect the health and safety of society and not to stop providing what is useful at the same time. Thus it exerts all effort to present what is capable of interacting with children and contribute to erasing any sense of isolation from society. He further explained that these works are distinguished by being aimed at strengthening children’s observation, noting that the “Puppet Space” has been keen to play its role in light of the current crisis, especially that the puppet theatre would work to develop the child’s creative and intellectual skills and develop his artistic taste as well. In this context, he stressed on that the Centre is also preparing to film all its previous shows to be broadcast for its audience of children. He also pointed out that the presentation of these plays adds to the educational value of the theatre, as it combines elements of entertainment and enjoyment alongside education and cultivating good values for our young children. He further stressed that theatre work directed to the child must combine entertainment and benefit, and that is why there should be specialized cadres that are informed about that. He also pointed to the activities of the puppet theatre which always seeks to communicate educational, ethical and practical messages, and present them in a fun and simple way that simulates children’s imagination. Furthermore, the Centre is always keen on permanent interaction with children through social networking sites and getting to know their views in order to provide the best.
