The Qatari Cultural Center for the Deaf received a delegation from the office of the Malay Islamic and Customary Religious Council in Terangano, Malaysia, with the aim of exchanging information and experiences on sign language dictionaries, especially on the Islamic Sign Dictionary, and how to prepare it according to the Islamic approach. The delegation included 6 members, who were warmly received at the Center by Mr. Abdullah Al-Mulla, Chairman of the Board of Directors, where Al-Mulla gave a detailed explanation about the Center’s activities and programs, and how to create an Islamic dictionary in sign language.

The Islamic Reference Dictionary is the basis of the workshop, in which representatives from more than 50 countries participated, where they worked for a year to translate religious terms, Quranic verses and limits into sign language. After the dictionary was printed, the Islamic Dictionary was distributed free of charge by the State of Qatar.
