The Qatari Publishers and Distributors Forum of the Ministry of Culture organized a seminar entitled Sustainability in the Field of Publishing and Books, in conjunction with the national campaign of Qatar Sustainability Week, and within the framework of the country’s orientation towards promoting sustainability in several fields.

The symposium, which was held in cooperation with the Hassan bin Mohammed Center for Historical Studies, was held with the participation of a group of intellectuals, thinkers and those interested in the publishing industry.

The seminar discussed several topics, including the concept of sustainability in the field of book publishing and distribution, in addition to studying positive changes and ways to benefit from sustainability principles that can be applied, such as recycling used paper.

It addressed the challenges that may hinder the transition towards the sustainability of the book, and the need to develop clear strategies and visions in cooperation with the authorities and institutions concerned with the publishing industry and other institutions towards awareness and education of the sustainability of publishing and distributing paper books.

The seminar was attended by Mr. Riyad Ahmed Saleh, Director of the Qatari Publishers and Distributors Forum, Dr. Saif Al-Hajari, President of the Friends of the Environment Center, and Mr. Mohammed Fikri, Assistant Director of the Heritage Library at Qatar National Library.
