The activities of the Riyadh International Book Fair 2023 were launched, with the participation of a group of Qatari publishing houses, including Hamad Bin Khalifa University Publishing House, Al Watad Books and Publications House, Katara Publishing House, Samarkand Publishing House and Rosa Publishing House.

Qatari publishing houses participate by displaying a variety of publications in novels, literature, research, science, law, children’s books, and others.

The exhibition’s activities, which will last until October 7, bring together the latest publications and titles in various types of literature, arts and knowledge, with the participation of more than 1800 publishing houses.

Mr. Jassim Ahmed Al-Buainain/ Director of the Department of Libraries and the Doha International Book Fair, said in statements: “The Ministry of Culture was keen for the State of Qatar’s participation in the current edition of the Riyadh International Book Fair to be distinguished, by displaying the intellectual production of the Ministry of Culture.”

Al-Buainain added: “Qatari participation in the Riyadh International Book Fair aims to build new relationships with those working in the field of culture and the publishing industry, in addition to displaying Qatari intellectual production to Qatari publishing houses.”

He explained that the Ministry of Culture’s participation in the exhibition includes displaying the Ministry’s various and new publications in various knowledge sciences, including novels, law, social sciences and humanities, in addition to distinguished publications of children’s and young adult books.

On her part, Marwa Musleh/ an administrative official at Dar Al-Watad, said in statements: “Dar Al-Watad is participating for the second year in a row in the Riyadh International Book Fair 2023, and adding that the Dar is keen to participate in the Riyadh exhibition as it is one of the important exhibitions in the Arab countries as it adds cultural value to international and Arab culture in particular.”

She pointed out that the Dar participates in a wide variety of publications, including those related to general knowledge, science, law, novels, human development, history, children’s books, and many other important titles to cover the needs of different groups and ages.

On his part, Mr. Bashar Shabaro/ CEO of Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press, said: “Hamad Bin Khalifa University Publishing House has worked hard to achieve the position it has reached today. The Riyadh Book Fair is not just an opportunity to sell our publications, but for us it represents a wonderful opportunity to meet readers in the Kingdom.”

He continued: “This is the third participation of Hamad Bin Khalifa University Publishing House in the Riyadh International Book Fair. The house takes this opportunity to launch its latest editions of books in Arabic and English, and the range of the house’s publications expands to suit children, adolescents, and adults. The house’s works are also distinguished by their diversity, with their commitment to the highest levels of quality and presenting a wide range of genres such as personal development, novels, translated creative works, and important research contributions by pioneers of scientific research in the region.”

The cultural program of the exhibition enriches its visitors with more than 200 events, including: dialogue seminars, poetry evenings performed by a group of classical and Nabataean poets, workshops in various fields of knowledge, in addition to narrators, and various activities to educate children. In addition to Saudi and international theatrical performances, musical and singing concerts, in addition to a book talk event that hosts an elite group of influential thinkers and authors, in activities that reflect all elements and components of culture.
