The Dar Arts Production team is participating in the Lebanon International Theater Festival, which is scheduled to be held from 28 to 31 August, with the play (The Sultan). Qatar’s participation in the festival comes at the invitation of the festival management, while artists Salem Al Mansouri, Mohammed Hassan Al Mohammadi, Ali Al Sharshani, Sameh Al Hajari, Siham Al Ayrij, Abdullah Al Yafei and Khalid Al Tamimi will participate in the upcoming theatrical performance. Such participations reflect the extent of the Qatari presence in Arab events and festivals, and the confidence it enjoys in these circles, while the play (The Sultan) reflects the prevailing Arab culture’s view towards power and politics, and the work reaches to promote the wisdom that (people’s satisfaction is an unrealized goal), as the play deals with the story of the sailor (Khamis), who refuses to run for the presidency of the island approved by the ruler, due to the lack of an heir to him, and the events revolve through a dream seen by the sailor (Khamis) and this dream increases From his conviction to stay away from the world of power and politics, given the great responsibility that those who exercise it need special skills and specifications.

The play “The Sultan” has previously won praise from critics and attendees when it was presented at the Hawara International Theater Festival in Morocco, representing the State of Qatar as the guest of honor of the festival. During the same festival, Salem Al Mansouri won the Best Actor Award at the festival.

The play has participated in many Arab and international festivals. Previously, the artist Salem Al Mansouri won many awards. He also received several honors at the local, Gulf and Arab levels, due to his long theatrical career, which provided the Qatari theater with many works, including the play (The Sultan).

The tenth session of the Lebanon International Theater Festival is scheduled to be held in Tripoli at the Lebanese National Theater free of charge, in tribute to the spirit of the artist Khaled Al Qasimi, and under the slogan (Tripoli is the capital of Arab culture).

On the sidelines of the festival, a training workshop will be held for children entitled (Story Builders), trained by Ana Palma and Ana Dias from the Da Grajim Theater from Portugal, and seminars will be held with the participation of Dr. Jana Al-Hassan, director Salah Atwi and actor Omar Mikati.

The festival witness’s theatrical performances from several Arab and foreign countries, and the performances compete within the official competition of the festival for the categories of Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Script, Best Scenography, Best Direction, Best Integrated Work and Jury Award.

In this context, the jury of the festival includes: Salah Al-Mulla from Qatar, Dr. Khalifa Al-Hajri from Kuwait, Majed Al-Aufi from Oman, Dr. Governor of Abu Ali from Lebanon. The guest of the festival will be Mohammed Al-Mansour from Kuwait.
